This Summer Solstice weekend millions of people are gathering at many places worldwide near valuable bodies of Water poised to join in the first LIVE H2O Internet broadcast. It’s all being done by volunteers, with no large commercial sponsors.
People everywhere are uniting musically to celebrate the healing harmony in Water and LOVE. It is hoped that music played at 528 Hz, with heart-felt loving intention for peace, health, and more, will resonate the oceans, rivers, lakes, and streams, including your blood stream, for the LOVE of it!
I am sure there will be poets among them. Here is the onomatopoeic* poem-prayer I wrote for water a few years back. *This lovely word refers to the formation or use of words that imitate what they denote - in this case water.
My poem is based on an Alonquin women's chant I learned that is intended be repeated (by women only and for their ears and those of water only!) wherever water is in need of care and repair. I'll be taking that chant to the river near where I live tomorrow morning early to celebrate the summer solstice.
PS The image above is the cover of a book of water poems which I have not read but would love to. The blurb reads: Bilingual in format, this work is a collection of poems by a Vietnamese writer of the post-1975 generation. The poems are rooted in a culture that honours place and respect to landscapes of the past, present and future with contemporary juxtapositions.
Water prayer by Sulis
The water that I ...
the water that I carry ...
the water that I carry is ...
the water
The sound of water flowing ...
over the pebbles, over the cobbles ...
the sound of water singing...
the sound
A poet, po-, po-, po, po-
-et, -et, -et, -et, wet ...
a wet poet ...
the song
The blood of mother earth ...
her blood flowing...
her moaning ...
repeating
The water that I ...
the water that I carry ...
the water that I carry is ...
the water
Amen
